USDA Government Inspected COCO

I believe Teddy Roosevelt is one of the baddest (meaning good) presidents that the United States have ever witnessed. He made sure that the public was satisfied at any cost. When Sinclair brought up the issue pertaining to danger of meat industry, Roosevelt really comes to the surface. I was not surprise to read about how the packers handled the meat industry, but I was a little surprise how some people stood up for the packers. These men are dealing with meat that has been tampered with and yet some people stood behind them; even when they cost the lives of some of the soldiers fighting the Spanish war. Roosevelt is doing everything that he can get a solution to this problem. Some people complain about how the governmnet does not get involve with the American people and leaves them hanging. But, the feeling that I get from this chapter is that the meat industry is that they do not want the government involved. Another thing that stood out to me is that there being a challenge against Teddy Roosevelt. Teddy Roosevelt is known for being a man who is very bold and confident in just about everything that he does. I just never would have believed that someone would go after someone that tough and audacious. Usually, hunters go at an easy target, but there were actual hunters at that time who thought they could make Roosevelt their prey. I was very pleased with how the story went along; it just naturally caught my attention. I just don't understand why some people like to knock down a good, strong leader who is trying his best to do what is right for his community, church, or country. But, it was interesting how the Progressivist movement came into play around this time which caught Roosevelt's attention. This makes me like Roosevelt even more for wanting to get in on the social justice. It wasn't fair that poor families could not be able to tell what their meat had in them; while European countries began to restrict the American the meat products because of their suspicions. Another question came to my mind as I was reading this section; why did the meat industries have the need to make or take shortcuts?  They are being successful with business with Europeans and they mess it by not making sure the meat is good and healthy; that's like throwing money down the toilet and flushing it. In the end, I am was very pleased to read about the improvements placed upon the meat industry.
